Travellers can now liven up their waiting time at the joint information stand of DRESDEN-concept and the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS. Monitors, interactive elements and informative texts give international passengers on the departures deck of Dresden Airport the chance to learn how, for example, something as small as a hair can be engraved using the latest laser technology.
If you crank the wheel at the laser aquarium, you can see that laser beams are refracted in water. Fans of memory games will also find something right up their alley: Behind rotating flaps, there are exhibits that can be paired up with their matching descriptions. DRESDEN-concept takes centre stage with cooperative projects, which are described on folding doors and visible on an illuminated city map. Sockets, USB charging stations and a place to sit down invite you to relax and familiarise yourself with the research conducted at Dresden before you hear "Your flight is now ready for boarding".
The information stand will be open during the airport's opening hours from February 2019, coinciding with TU Dresden's international excellence assessment, until the end of the summer holidays in 2019.
