The new research centre CASUS - Center for Advanced Systems Understanding in Görlitz was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of Federal Minister Anja Karliczek and Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer. The new institute is dedicated to the research of complex systems that can be found in almost all scientific areas. Three DRESDEN-concept partners, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) and the TU Dresden will conduct interdisciplinary research with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) Leipzig and the University of Wroclaw.
CASUS combines methods from mathematics, systems theory, data science and scientific computing at a single location, to rethink data-intensive systems research across individual disciplines. CASUS is under development as a new research institute in Görlitz during 2019-2022 and will reach full strength in 2023.
