Philipp-Schwartz-Initiative for Scholars at Risk

The Philipp Schwartz Initiative was launched by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation together with the Federal Foreign Office and enables universities, universities of applied sciences and non-university research institutions in Germany to award fellowships for research stays to researchers at risk. This initiative is financed by the Federal Foreign Office, the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the Gerda Henkel Foundation, the Klaus Tschira Foundation, the Robert Bosch Foundation, the Stifterverband and the Mercator Foundation.

The DRESDEN-concept Welcome Center at TU Dresden is responsible for the application of the TUD as well as for the execution of the project and supports hosts and researchers alike. The TU Dresden was already successful with applications in the 2nd and 4th call and can now report a great success in this 5th round: Three further scholarship holders will begin their two-year research work in a safe working and living environment in the summer of 2019, thus supporting a total of six scientists at the TUD.
